About

SCHealthData.org was created and is maintained by the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS), the agency that runs the state’s $6.5 billion Healthy Connections Medicaid program. The site was launched in January 2014. The site is the result of collaboration with several state agencies and groups, including the South Carolina Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Office, the South Carolina Public Employee Benefit Authority, the South Carolina Hospital Association (SCHA), the South Carolina Primary Health Care Association (SCPHCA) and the South Carolina Health Care Association (SCHCA).

The goals of SCHealthData.org are to provide additional statistical information on health care providers and improve transparency in South Carolina health care. As mentioned in recent state provisos, transparency is a goal of SCDHHS.

The site is also an easy-to-use source of data and information on hospitals, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and nursing homes in South Carolina, including measures such as profitability, number of patient visits and pay for top staff of certain providers.

This website is a work in progress. It will be updated as more data and tools become available. Check back often to stay abreast of these updates.
